In response to Ohio’s need for additional educators equipped to support learners with low incidence and/or sensory disabilities, the Compact identified a funding priority area focused on preparation and personnel development in the area of Sensory Impairment.

This work involves the development of course content leading to a to-be-established sensory impairment endorsement for Ohio educators. The intended outcome is increased capacity among practicing intervention specialists to more effectively meet the needs of children with sensory and dual sensory impairments.

More information about the institution engaged in Priority 3 Incentive Grant efforts appears below.

A comprehensive two-phase study examined national context and the experiences of districts in Ohio in addressing the needs of students with low incidence sensory disabilities. Click here to review highlights of the study.
