The Compact identifies and responds to priority issues identified by state leadership, members, and other partners engaged in improving learning for all children.

Issues currently being addressed include:

  • Identifying and infusing targeted knowledge, skills, and dispositions into preservice coursework in teacher education and educational leadership programs to prepare more effectively all graduates to use inclusive practices in meeting the needs of all learners.
  • Identifying strategies for modifying intervention specialist preparation programs to prepare more effectively graduates to teach and support learners with more complex, intensive needs.
  • Developing partnerships to facilitate meaningful collaboration and simultaneous renewal efforts between higher education and PK-12 education systems.
  • Identifying strategies for increasing the capacity of Ohio’s education system to serve more effectively students with low incidence sensory disabilities.

Early work by Compact members and staff resulted in several “synopses” documents that served to promote shared understanding of important issues. These documents can be accessed in the Resources > Tools & Resources section of this website.
