These are all ways that the Compact is working with deans, assistant deans, faculty, district and school leaders, professional association representatives, national partners, state leaders, regional personnel, and others, to examine ideas around effective pedagogy and the development and implementation of innovative models of preparation.
We believe that when we scale effective and meaningful work, we are able to serve more educators—teachers, administrators, and related services personnel—which ultimately leads to greater reach and impact for all Ohio students.

The Ohio Deans Compact incentive grant program is designed to spark and support innovation in educator preparation across Ohio. Through a competitive Notice of Intent to Apply (NIA) process, higher education institutions can secure funding to rethink and redesign their teacher education programs.
This work aligns with the Compact’s broader mission to foster a culture of innovation—encouraging new ideas and sustainable improvements along the P–20 continuum that enhance learning at all levels.
More than just financial support, the incentive grant program incentivizes promising practices that reshape how future educators are trained, ultimately improving outcomes for educators and students.
Since its inception in 2012, the Compact has funded 133 incentive grants totaling over $9.7 million, awarded to 35 Ohio institutions.
