The submission period for this RFA has expired.

On June 26, 2020, The Ohio Deans Compact on Exceptional Children released a request for application (RFA) for new improving literacy partnership grants. Accredited four-year institutions of higher education (IHE) in Ohio that do not already have a Compact-funded Improving Literacy Partnership Grant are invited to submit a proposal. The RFA may be downloaded from the link below.

Funding for this second round of incentive grants will support one priority for redesigning/strengthening 12-hour reading core courses to prepare educators better able to teach all children, including those with disabilities and learning challenges, to read. This priority requires applicant IHEs to (1) redesign/strengthen and ground reading core courses in the science of reading, aligned with Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement, (2) work in partnership with one or more area school districts, (3) participate in a higher education-school district community of practice (CoP), and (4) contribute to the development of products that can be used by Ohio IHEs to strengthen their existing 12-hour reading core courses.

Applications may be submitted as early as noon on July 9 and no later than August 14 at 4:30 pm ET. To be eligible to submit an application, applicant institutions must have a representative attend the Compact’s Virtual Bidders Conference, which will be held on July 9, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm. Connection information for participating in the bidders conference is included here:

Sorry, the Virtual Bidder's Conference has taken place.

On behalf of the Ohio Deans Compact on Exceptional Children, we look forward to working with you to promote sustainable and replicable improvements in Ohio’s personnel preparation and development system that contribute to building the capacity of teachers, administrators, schools, and districts to prepare every child for success.
